Simple play for the early months

Faces, voices and a little floor time can be enough.

Part 1

Follow baby’s attention

Try a short face-to-face moment when baby is awake and comfortable. Make a gentle sound, pause and see what happens. Turning away can be your cue to stop or take a break.
Part 2

Offer supervised awake play

Tummy time is for awake babies with an attentive adult. Choose a safe space and short opportunities that fit your baby and the guidance from your care team. Return baby to their safe sleep setup if they become sleepy.
Keep play simple: one infant-appropriate book, a face to look at or a suitable toy within comfortable reach. Check the exact product’s age label and condition.
Part 3

Let everyday life count

Describe what you are doing during a change or read a few pages together. You do not need a special curriculum or expensive subscription to share a warm interaction.

One thing to try today

Try one brief, supervised play moment and stop when baby needs a break.

For a partner, grandparent or helper

Read or talk with baby while another caregiver takes a short rest.
